We write the home repair guides we wished we had: clear, accurate, and honest about when to call a pro.
HomeRevampDaily helps American homeowners and renters fix, maintain and improve their homes with confidence. Whether water is rising in the toilet right now or you are planning your first flooring project, our goal is the same: get you to the right answer fast, explain it in plain English, and keep you safe while you do the work.
Why we started
Most of us learned home repair the hard way. Searching late at night for a fix, we found the same problems again and again:
- guides that skip the one step that actually matters
- vague advice like “tighten as needed” with no real numbers
- safety warnings buried, or missing entirely
- pages built for ads first and readers second
HomeRevampDaily was started to do it differently. Every guide leads with the answer, gives real measurements, and tells you the honest truth about difficulty, cost and risk.
Meet the founder
Tony T. Johnson, Founder and Lead Editor
Tony T. Johnson is the founder and lead editor of HomeRevampDaily. He is a hands-on DIYer who believes most home repairs are well within reach when the instructions are clear, the measurements are exact and the safety warnings are honest. Tony researches every guide against building codes and manufacturer instructions, and he works with licensed professionals to review guides on plumbing, electrical and venting work.
How we create our guides
- Research the real question. We study what homeowners actually ask, in forums, in search, and from reader emails, so we answer the problem you have, not a generic one.
- Check the rules. We verify numbers against the International Residential Code (IRC), the National Electrical Code (NEC), manufacturer installation instructions and government safety sources.
- Test it where we can. Methods, tools and timings come from hands-on work. Photos marked as ours show our own projects.
- Get a professional review. Guides involving electrical, plumbing, gas or venting work are reviewed by a licensed professional, named at the top of the article.
- Keep it current. Every guide shows a “last updated” date. We review guides when codes, products or reader feedback show something has changed.
What we believe
- Answer first. You came with a problem, so the solution comes before the backstory.
- Real numbers. Sizes, clearances, times and code references, not “about” and “some.”
- Safety without scare tactics. We tell you exactly what the risk is and what to do about it.
- Know when to stop. Some jobs belong to licensed pros. We will always say so.
- Independent advice. Brands do not pay for coverage. If we earn a commission from a link, we disclose it. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How we make money
HomeRevampDaily is free to read. We may earn money from display advertising and from affiliate links, which pay us a small commission when you buy through them at no extra cost to you. These never decide what we recommend or how we rank products.
Found a mistake?
We take accuracy seriously. If you spot an error, an outdated code reference or a step that did not work for you, please tell us. We review every correction request and update the guide with a new date when we make a change.
